The Man Behind the Reckoning

Dr. Rayon Layne Walton

I was called "Doc" before I could even walk. My grandfather gave me that name the moment I was born, and it became a prophecy I felt destined to fulfill. That path wasn’t handed to me, though—I forged it.

I joined the U.S. Marines to serve my country and to ensure my education didn't become a financial burden on my parents. That journey took me from military discipline to a deep curiosity about what makes people tick, leading me through Social Psychology, an MBA, and finally, my Doctorate in Organizational Leadership.

I’ve spent 25 years in the "trenches" of leadership and complex operations, but none of those titles prepared me for the journey that became Caught Up in the Rapture.

Why I Wrote This
I didn’t write this book because I wanted to; I wrote it because I had to. It started with a dream—a vivid, persistent sequence that wouldn't let me go. As I wrote, the characters took on lives of their own, navigating the same joys, setbacks, and family challenges we all face. I became obsessed with what happens underneath the surface of our lives: the loss, the reunions, and the "reckoning" we all eventually face.

The Mission
I’m not here to give you a "nice" story. I’m here to take you on a journey into the afterlife that challenges everything you think you know about faith, grief, and what comes next. I’ve even added a bit of humor to the mix—because let’s be honest, the thought of a "forever" reunion with a dreaded ex-spouse is a question that deserves an answer.

When I’m not writing, I’m helping organizations find their own resilience—but this book is where my heart (and definitely my soul) lives.

Welcome to the journey. I’m glad you’re here.
